We can organize social charities, and put in better roads... create rest-stops along the way for weary travelers. How about some suburban vendors and dwellings so that you can get a small taste of the wilds, but still be in easy reach of the culture of the cities?
And what about managing the funds for these kinds of issues? We neeed taxation, and accountants. And of course, defending the accused is important. Lawyers, yes, let's have lawyers. And maybe we could sell commercial sponsorship to PC blacksmiths at the trials... you know, 30 second "spots" on the shout channel? We could just convict and condemn any unauthorized use of the regulated shout channels in certain zones.
But then we'll need advertising agencies to compose catchy shouts. Certainly can't leave that to the amateurs. And having done that, we had best devise a better system of payment than plat. Who wants to carry around all that cash? How about Norath Express? Or NeriakCard - it's everywhere you want to be?
Well... can't provide a service like that without charging for it. So we'll need to work out appropriate interest rates for that kind of flexible credit.
And is anyone else tired of walking everywhere? We need to have jboot salesmen who can offer reasonable financing for players who can't afford to buy them outright.
Clearly all of this is relatively complex. We really need some kind of governing body. Thus we'll need a system for tallying votes to hold elections. And what about reporting on those elections? News stations, we need news stations.
The big problem though, is that then we need people to run all of the above ideas! Which they certainly won't do without compensation. I say that we devise a standard norathing employment contract. We'll also need to devise benefits packages. You know, have an on-staff healer for health problems, a retirement fund, etc. More accountants needed.

How genuinely stupid I feel now. I've been wasting all my time playing a game and trying to build up a society that already exists outside of the game. I must have some inadequacies that have caused me to be blind to this. I need to see a shrink. You think I can find a good one in Neriak? Where's my Norath Yellow Pages?
